This is absolutely essential to make your engine go vroom again. To replace this and make your engine go vroom again, they'll have to replace your entire cam shaft, AND timing kit. This reluctor is pressure fitted into your exhaust cam shaft. Basically when they take off the valve cover (300$ job) they find that your exhaust cam shaft has a reluctor wheel which has shifted due to poor engine design. That would be one engine code, not sure which. My 2013 Equinox with the 2.4 had the cam position sensor replaced once. As if the cam sensor wasn't a big enough pain in the ass for the millions of people who own this exact car, you're potentially really in trouble. He stated the car drove fine for him and it could possibly be the cam shaft sensor but he wasn't 100% sure. Everyone told me to check the gas cap but I took the car to the mechanic as soon as I got home. I had no issues on the drive back home and the check engine light was no longer on. Needless to say, I used an uber for the rest of that trip. I started it back up and thankfully it started but the check engine light came on. I drove two hours to Savannah and pulled into the hotel parking lot and the car cut off before I could pull all the way end. After two failed trips, Im scared to even drive it. I purchased this car to use solely for long travels.
